New Google Play changes could spell the end to in app gambling as we know it.

Google Play is about to deal a massive blow to gamblers and casinos alike when new regulations come into play that basically ban mobile casino apps.

Just as Android mobile gambling was on the rise, this sudden revision from Google Play follows a similar change from Apple’s App Store. However, in a strange role reversal, Apple’s new policy is far less draconian sounding than its often freer competitor’s.

What the new directive states is that Google Play will no longer allow “content or services that facilitate online gambling, including but not limited to, online casinos, sports betting and lotteries, or games of skill” if they give players the ability to win real cash prizes through gameplay.

Application developers have been given 30 days to revise their apps or they will be removed and banned from the Google Play store.

This piece of mobile gambling news could result in a boost for iPhones with gamblers, as unlike Android, Apple has not banned real cash betting apps.

These changes to the Google Play regulations are part of a larger plan to clamp down on advertising and applications that reflect poorly on the Android brand. The changes mainly concern advertisements, both in-game and out, but also include a section that forces in game sales to be routed through Google Play’s own billing service.
