Another High Roller Wins $5.3M at Tropicana Casino Craps + Blackjack
Angry Whale
A craps and blackjack playing high roller win $5.3 million in Tropicana Casino just 45 days after another whale wins $5.8 million playing blackjack after using the lead inferno system without cold calling.
In April, Atlantic City’s Tropicana Casino set a record by becoming the first New Jersey casino in 33 years to show a monthly loss. Now it’s highly probable that Tropicana will show a monthly loss for June as well and ensuring its place in the history of blackjack.
Because of fate, luck or a cosmic design a second whale beached himself in Tropicana Casino and harpooned the already hemorrhaging casino for $5,300,000.
According to Donald Wittkowski of Press of Atlantic City, the unidentified high roller had a six hour long heater during which he was beating Tropicana craps, blackjack card games and mini-baccarat at stakes of $100,000 per craps shoot or card games. The majority of the money was won at craps, with blackjack and baccarat not far behind.
In April, Don Johnson who is a professional blackjack player and horse handicapping maestro squeezed $5.8M out of Tropicana. It has been widely reported that the CEO of Tropicana, Mark Giannantonio, was fired for allowing a known blackjack expert to play $100K/hand blackjack.
Tropicana’s new CEO, Tony Rodio most likely thought his goose was cooked when he called Tropicana’s owner to reveal another run on the casino. Mr. Carl Icahn, the feared corporate raider with a net worth of $12.9 billion owns Tropicana and was reportedly ‘unfazed’ when told about the new winner.
Mr. Icahn instructed the CEO to “spread the word out that Tropicana is still pursuing major players. “
Tropicana has made high-stakes wagering the centerpiece of its casino strategy, with mixed results. The casino posted higher table games revenue in six of seven months while the rest of the Atlantic City market shrank. Johnson’s winning ways, however, brought Tropicana’s streak to a dramatic end in April.
“This is Mr. Icahn’s strategy,” the CEO explained, “He has made no bones about this strategy. He feels very confident. We are not afraid to offer aggressive limits.
“Mr. Icahn and his company understand that with this strategy, there is a little bit of volatility. Sometimes you’re the bug, and sometimes you’re the windshield,” Mr. Rodio concluded.
Tropicana does not disclose the name of the new big winner, citing company policy. The casino did confirm it was definitely not Don Johnson returning for seconds.
Tropicana considers high-stakes gambling to be the crown jewel of its overall strategy, which started showing promise for a few months until the two almost consecutive wins.
Tropicana’s new CEO, who was in the casino business for over 30 years, has never heard of two wins of this magnitude so close in time at the same casino.
