Blackjack Brings Families Together at Wright State University
Blackjack at WSU
Wright State University held a Monte Carlo Night, one of several events taken place for Parents’ Weekend 2011, Feb 4 to Feb 6. Parents and students alike had an opportunity to try their luck and have a fun time.
For a $5 entry fee, students and their parents were treated to a host of games including blackjack card games, Texas hold‘em and roulette. Families had a chance to test their knowledge of each other in the “Know Your Raider” game. Participation in low stakes gambling was not compulsory, though thrilling, some entrants preferred to relax and enjoy light meals and drinks offered on this occasion.
Monte Carlo Night was a new experience for both volunteers helping organizers, and parents visiting campus. The community councilor for the Honors Dorms and biological sciences pre-med sophomore, Chardonay Brown, learned blackjack strategy quickly and was able to enhance his experience by communicating with parents and students. Daniel Rhodes, vice president for the RCA and junior Spanish major, found the event’s turnout successful, seeing some parents and students waiting in lines for a free space at a table and a chance to utilize their blackjack tricks.
During Monte Carlo Night a possibility was given to buy basketball game tickets at a discount, as well as having breakfast with President David R. Hopkins. Parents also took part in meetings and presentations, that provided them with information affecting their children.

is this even legal in US?
next thing you know the local mayor is running down the street with his lawyer, as the gambling lobby tries to protect its interests…at least that’s how they treat online gambling
