Blythe-Tinker Leaves GVC Holdings
Move is surprising given the company’s impressive performance last year.
Nigel Blythe-Tinker has stepped down from his position as non-executive director of GVC Holdings after 9 years with the company. He was a member of the company’s board during its IPO in 2004 and has been an important part of management throughout.
CEO Kenneth Alexander stressed Blythe-Tinker’s contribution to the company: “On behalf of the board l would like to thank Nigel for the contribution he has made during the nine years that he has served as a non-executive director…He joined the board at the time of the original IPO in December 2004 and has provided the company with wise counsel throughout this period and has helped guide GVC to the size it is now.”
No announcement has been made with regards to a replacement. The company operates online sportsbooks as well as casino games like online blackjack. Some are surprised as the announcement considering that GVC reported excellent earnings in 2013.
Mobile platform growing in importance
In addition to online, the company has made a foray into the mobile sports betting market. The sector is booming and accounts in part for GVC’s recent success. It operates the popular brand Sportingbet which specializes in football.
