Jopok Mafia
Police busted a group of Korean mafia soldiers operating illegal online casino blackjack in Philippines.
The Philippine National Police Criminal Investigation and Detection Group announced that a series of late night raids led to 20 arrests involving Korean Jopok organized crime cell operating illegal online blackjack casinos in Pasig City.
CIDG Director Samuel Pagdilao Jr. disclosed during a news conference that six organize crime soldiers of the dreaded Dragon Assassins clan of the Korean Jopok Mafia, along with 14 Philippine associates, were caught red handed operating a series of internet baccarat and blackjack casinos online.
CIDG Anti-Transnational Crime Division was expecting a battle to the death with the dreaded Korean Jopok mafia soldiers with a reputation for instigating a number of mafia wars and asked Judge Marino Santo Ramirez Dela Cruz for immediate search warrants.
Director Pagdilao identified the Koreans as Lee Dewook, 41, who is assumed to be the Jopok lieutenant of this group based on the total number of tattoos; Mini Ji Su, 25, An Bong Hee, 36, Cho Hyun Woo, 31, Jean Miae, 36, and Kin Jungho, 29. All suspects refused to speak with the arresting officers.
Police confiscated six blackjack and baccarat tables, six cartons of playing card as well as CCTV and audio equipment. Eighteen state-of-the-art computers were also confiscated.
Police speculate that the casino allowed online blackjack card game players to play a ‘live’ version of blackjack and baccarat where online gamblers see a human dealer on their monitor and not a digital avatar.
The suspects will be charged with violation of the anti-illegal gambling law.
