DerbyJackpot Launches Mobile Betting App in US
DerbyJackpot
Oregon company brings US horse betting to mobile devices.
Horse races are the only legal means of online gambling accessible to the US residents (until poker rooms start operating from Nevada or Delaware). Its offspring, mobile sports betting is also available to Americans.
DerbyJackpot, a relatively new US company has recently launched its mobile application allowing punters to wager on American horse races. The app is specifically targeting the casual players with small wagers and simple betting types, in order not to discourage usage by speaking professional betting lingo.
Its appearance is also simple, the graphics are pleasing and the app allows players to also watch the races through live video feed. Due to the popularity of iOS devices in the US and the limited number of legal offers available to users, DerbyJackpot is clearly expecting a good reception in the iPhone gambling.
Looking at international trends it is safe to say that even following the legalization of online blackjack, poker and other casino games in the US, sports betting will remain popular because of its more limited reliance on luck.
Players wishing to use the app must reside in one of the 43 states that allow horse betting and be of 18 years of age (21 in some states). For now, it is available in 25 states with 12 more in the pipeline. Discussions of a possible partnership with Facebook are also underway.
