FunPlus Raises $74 Million For International Mobile Gaming Project
FunPlus, Chinese mobile social gaming company, managed to raise $74 million for its global mobile gaming venture.
It has been reported in the mobile gambling news that founders of the new company will be GSR Ventures, Steamboat Ventures and Orchid Asia Group.
FunPlus executives commented that the funding will be used to create games that will be attractive to the international audience, which will combine the know-how of the Chinese company and the creativity of Western game developers.
FunPlus looks in the future
FunPlus was found in 2006 by Andy Zhong and Yitao Guan, later joined by Dan Fiden as chief strategy officer.
The company reported around six million daily users and most of the accumulated revenue is said to be coming from Europe and North America. The most popular game for the time being is Family Farm, which is enjoyed by more than four million daily active users.
Fiden commented on the new project: “This round is going to take us to the next level. We want to be a developer-operator with a truly global reach. We want to be a China-based company that is successful outside of China.”
Additionally he commented on the mobile casino gambling: “The game industry is going through an incredible transformation, and we want to be ready for it. When it comes to game services, I don’t think we’ve even scratched the surface on what is possible.”
