Keon and Peak from GeeksPhone become the first two devices to be launched with Firefox OS onboard.

GeeksPhone has released the first two devices powered by the all-new Firefox OS. The smartphones are called Keon and Peak, and are running a Developer Preview of the Firefox OS, thus targeting developers rather than ordinary users. However, the early launch should help the developers to come up with a range of apps before consumer smartphone with Firefox OS are launched.

The Peak is the better smartphone of the two and sells for EUR 149. GeeksPhone Peak offers a 4.3 inch qHD screen, 1.2GHz dual-core CPU, 512MB of RAM, an 8MP snapper and a 1,800mAh battery. The features are quite decent to run mobile casino games

The Keon is a bit less ”smart” and goes for EUR 91. It comes with a 3.5 inch HVGA display, single-core 1GHz CPU, 512MB of RAM, 3MP camera and 1,580mAh battery. The specs may not be too shiny, but the affordable price more than makes up for this.

Rather interestingly, Sony has released a special ROM for the Xperia E Android casino smartphone, which allows developers to install the Firefox OS to this entry-level device. Is this a sign that Sony may be looking to adapt the new OS if it gets popular?
