German Pro Pulls Upset at PokerStars Caribbean Adventure

Fabian Quoss surpasses Dan Shak and Vanessa Selbst to walk away with $1.6 million.
Fabian Quoss of Germany emerged as the winner in a showdown with poker legends Dan Shak and Vanessa Selbst, among other pros. Despite entering the final table third in chips, Quoss made a stunning comeback, sending Shak home with his second career runner-up finish in the Caribbean Adventure.
The 31-year-old Quoss has built an image as a master of casino strategy, with the recent victory giving him $4.5 million in career live tournament winnings.
When asked about his victory, Quoss responded: “I am very happy to have scored the title. Finally a few key all-ins went my way.” He defeated Selbst on an all-in–sending her packing with a third-place finish–before taking down Shak in head-to-head play.
Everyone was a winner, especially poker fans
While Shak and Selbst must be disappointed to have been overtaken, the outcome is more sweet than bitter, as Shak collected just over $1 million and Selbst $760,000, bolstering her reputation as the all-time live tournament winner among women.
A high-profile tournament like the Caribbean Adventure is always certain to make casino gambling news, but this year’s event was especially entertaining for poker fans. With a star-studded final table and a breath-taking comeback win for the young pro from Germany, viewers were riveted throughout.
