DesertXpress, the first US high-speed train will link Los Angeles to Las Vegas and is soon to enter the construction phase.

In a joint statement, the US Transportation Secretary Ray LaHood together with Senator Harry Reid, Nevada (D), have made public the environmental impacts of the ultra high speed DesertXpress train service. The paper, prepared by the Federal Railroad Administration, describe the potential environmental impact of the bullet train linking Los Angeles to Las Vegas. the proposed $6 billion high-speed train will bring gamblers to the Sin City in under 85 minutes and will be primarily used by poker players, slot afficianados and blackjack card games players.

The proposed high-speed train is one of the initiatives found within President Obama’s bloated transportation plan. The recently released joint statement moves the planned construction one step closer to reality.

The DesertXpress is estimated to cut the time required to travel from Victorville, California to Las Vegas, to an impressive 85 minutes. This will barely leave time for gamblers to discuss the latest blackjack tricks before the train arrives in Vegas. The train is expected to clear up the congested I-15 highway.

The project was included in the recession stimulus package and is expected to give a major boost to the local economy by creating several thousand high paying jobs. Billions of dollars have already been reserved by the Federal government for the project.

According to the US Department of Transportation figures, over 30 companies are expected to share the funds required for the creation of the railway.

No date has been set for the beginning of corridor construction. Insiders as well as blackjack strategy experts alike are expecting the initial implementation of DesertExpress project to start by the end of 2011.
