The HTC J butterfly becomes the first smartphone from the Taiwanese company to have a 1080p display.
Following various rumors about a large HTC smartphone, the J butterfly has been finally unveiled heading for the Japanese mobile casino gamers. The device is the first production phone from the Taiwanese manufacturer to feature a 1080p resolution screen.
The smartphone sports a 5 inch Super LCD3 screen with 1980x1080p resolution and a whopping 440 ppi density. Well done, HTC, this Android casino monster will certainly interest gamers with a desire for a large screen capable of wonderful graphics.
The HTC J butterfly is only slightly larger than the current flagship One X, weighing only 10g more. In terms of other features, mobile casino games fanatics will be able to enjoy a 1.5GHz quad-core Qualcomm APQ8064 Snapdragon S4 CPU. 2GB of RAM certainly wouldn’t hurt anyone, just as the 16GB of built-in space and a microSD card slot wouldn’t.
Other specs of the wonderphone include an 8MP snapper with 1080p video recording capabilities, and a 2MP front camera for video calls. The device fully supports NFC and LTE, and is even IPX5 dust and waterproof. The HTC J butterfly is running on the Android 4.1 Jelly Bean and offers a rather small, 2,020mAh battery.
The scheduled release date for the smartphone is December, and it will first appear on AU/KDDI network in Japan. Current news suggest that the device is exclusive to Japan only, but we’re pretty sure such a wonderful display will make its way to HTC’s international models in the near future as well.
