India 3G Rollout is Good News for Mobile Gamers
3G internet in India
India will soon be offering 3G mobile internet across the country, and the prospect of more bandwidth and more speed has mobile gamers excited.
While Apple’s newest iPhone supports 4G mobile internet, this new technology is not yet widely available. In fact, many parts of the world are only now offering support for the older 3G model. Despite the fact that 3G is already outdated, it still offers tremendous value to mobile gamers, who crave high bandwidth and streaming multimedia on their mobile phones.
The widespread rollout of 3G mobile internet in India is being met with tremendous enthusiasm, especially in the mobile gaming and mobile gambling industries. There are an estimated 40 million mobile internet users in the country, and the boost in speed that 3G offers will likely see this number grow significantly.
About 75% of India’s mobile users use GSM as their provider. The group sees between 7 and 9 million new subscribers each month. Around 35% of GSM subscribers have GPRS access, and even though less than 2% of these mobile users take advantage of GPRS to enjoy mobile games, the number of mobile gamers in India is still quite high.
The most popular mobile games in India are cricket and action games, but online casino games like slots and blackjack are also becoming more and more popular. Most mobile casinos on the market today are GPRS-friendly, so they are accessible by most of India’s millions of mobile gamers. Some of India’s mobile operators even provide free GPRS access, making mobile phone casinos even more accessible. As 3G mobile internet coverage spreads across India, the popularity of mobile gambling can only grow.
