January Ruling in Apple V Samsung Patent Wars Moved to August
Apple v Samsung
Apple and Samsung continue to accuse each other of patent infringements, one major battle is to be ruled on in August.
Apple seeks an import ban on Samsung mobile casino gambling tools to the USA, a decision on this was supposed to be made on January 23, but the ruling was moved to a later date – August 1.
The outcome largely depends on the court deciding if the Korean giant infringes on Apple patents or not. The initial findings stipulate that Samsung Android casino devices do breach four of Apple patents.
In case the court decides to rule in favor of Apple, there will be a 60-day period for Presidential review, when the Oval Office can veto the ban, but as history shows, the President rarely does so. This means that Samsung devices could be banned in the USA starting from October 2013.
Samsung, however, has its own claim for Apple to answer: the Koreans are also seeking to ban Apple imports of mobile casino games tamers, citing FRAND patents violations. This particular court ruling is expected to happen on March 7.

In any case the long-going war isn’t doing anybody any good. The lengthy legal competitions hinder progress, thus mobile devices aren’t upgraded at the rate they should be, new devices are delayed and so on. We sincerely hope the two manufacturers can find some common ground and work pass the differences.
