Microgaming Sneaks In to US Market with Mobile Lottery System
Microgaming is the world’s largest provider of online casino games and software. Their mobile division, called Spin3, is responsible for designing mobile casino games designed for use on mobile telephones. Microgaming’s internet casinos and mobile casinos are open to players in many parts of the world, but they pulled out of the US gambling market in 2006 when the UIGEA was first introduced, and since then Microgaming casinos have not accepted US players.
A recent announcement from Microgaming reveals that their Spin3 division has developed a mobile lottery platform they are calling LottoSpin. Through LottoSpin, Microgaming will be able to once again target US players with a limited mobile gambling service.
The service will be made available in the US on a state-by-state basis, distributed through a strategic partnership forged with Pulse Interactive, a US organization with experience in the US state lottery market.
LottoSpin will work with over 2,000 mobile telephones, including iPhone, the BlackBerry and Android devices. In addition to mobile lottery services, LottoSpin will also offer a wide range of instant-win games to enhance the operators’ offering. Microgaming Spin3 will now be able to offer mobile casino games like Keno, Lotto Bonanza, and Scratchers to US players by keeping them under the state lottery label.
This new lottery platform is intended to enhance rather than to replace existing state lottery offerings. It will help these lotteries to better compete with the world of online gambling, especially now that mobile Casinos are on the rise.
