No Blackjack Card Games for Resorts World New York
No blackjack!
Fans of blackjack and other table games are disappointed to learn that the new Resort World New York casino will offer nothing more than 4,500 slot machines.
Today will see a groundbreaking ceremony commemorating the start of a massive project to overhaul the ageing Aqueduct Racetrack, a Thoroughbred racing center in New York, USA. The Aqueduct will be transformed into a shiny new Resorts World New York casino through a $325 remodeling project.
The Aqueduct’s owner, Genting New York, was awarded a license to offer VLTs two months ago. The project is expected to create 21,000 jobs, and to generate more than $300 million a year for the state.
Getting plans to fill the site with 4,500 video slot machines. About a third of these will be ready as early as May 2011. By the end of next year, the complex will include a two-story sports bar and lounge, a food court, a fancy Chinese restaurant and an indoor water show.
One thing that gamblers won’t find at the new Resorts World New York is blackjack card games. In fact, it will be no more than a massive slots parlor. This has some locals hesitant about the project, and many are suggesting that adding table games to the mix would have been a better casino strategy.
Fortunately for New Yorkers, blackjack casinos are available in northern portion of the state. These are operated by the St Regis Mohawk Tribe. Earlier this month, the St. Regis Mohawk Tribal Council decided to stop sharing its casino revenue with the state, claiming that its seven-county exclusive rights to install and operate slot machines has been violated. The revenue will instead be distributed to local municipalities.

Guess I won’t be headed to the new RWNY any time soon… who named the place anyway? It’s a mouthful.

too bad for locals, but smart move on the casino’s part. slots are easier to maintain and bring in more profits…
