Playtech Joins Gaming Standards Association
The online provider is the first such company to attain platinum status
Playtech has become a platinum member of the Gaming Standards Association (GSA), an international trade group. The company develops and supplies games like online blackjack and slots, and will be the first firm specializing in online gambling to attain platinum status.
Playtech CEO Shay Segev thinks that move will bring positive results for both his company and the GSA, with the former bringing expertise in the online market and the latter offering a larger, wider platform. Segev had this to say:
“The addition to GSA will also allow us to enhance our open platform functionality and ensure unification across providers’ offerings that will enable endless possibilities in terms of content integration… Such amalgamation will simplify both operators and regulators’ needs industry wide.”
Playtech is the 10th company to join the GSA this month.
Move comes as interactive gaming on the rise
Upgrading Playtech to platinum status comes in recognition of the growing importance of online and mobile casino gambling. Interactive gaming platforms are becoming increasingly popular and lucrative while land-based casino revenue is declining in tradition gambling hubs like Las Vegas and Atlantic City. Apart from Macau, the “Asian Las Vegas”, most indicators say that the future of gaming lies in electronic platforms.
