Sony Ericsson Talks of PSP-Like Mobile Gaming Phone
Sony Ericsson
A new Android 3.0 mobile gaming phone is in the works from Sony Ericsson. The Android platform has yet to live up to its potential in the world of mobile gaming, but this new device could change everything. With Microsoft looking to compete in the mobile gaming sector with its upcoming Windows Phone 7, this new Android device will face some serious competition.
This new device is in the final stages of planning. Rumors say that it looks like a cross between a Samsung Captivate and the PSP Go – a sideways phone that slides open, revealing not a keyboard but gamepad controls instead. A touch pad replaces the analog stick. A large, sharp display and a 5 megapixel camera sweeten the deal. Sony Ericsson may even be working together with Google to create a custom Android 3.0 gaming platform for the device.
The device is said to carry Playstation branding, and is supposed to offer a range of PSP and PSX games. Its launch date has not been announced, but some put it as early as October of this year.
At this point, it is far too early to know how this device will handle mobile casino games. There are already quite a few strong Android casinos on the market, but until more information is available about the web browsing and Java capabilities of the new Sony Ericsson mobile gaming device, it is hard to say how well existing casino games will work. One thing is certain – a touchpad would be a wonderful way to play mobile casino games!

A PSP phone? Yes please! Anyway if it’s Android it’s sure to have proper internet capabilities, so it should play casino games just fine.

The only thing that scares me is the phone part… Does this mean we are trapped into lifelong contracts w/ phone companies.*On top of that which carriers too? Also data plans and crap. Then again how would an android-phone go w/o contracts since you obviously need an network to use android on the go as well as talking on the PSP “Phone”
Unless it was unlocked or used a completely different system… IDK.
It is rather tempting and these rumors are driving be crazy and have almost at the mercy of the PSP Phone price ever since my last PSP departed from me all these years ago, =(
