Sony Yuga Android to Rival IPhone 5 and Galaxy S III?
Sony iPhone killer
Sony develops an Android phone (rumored to be Yuga) that is promised to be a true option for iPhone and Galaxy S III.
Sony has announced that they intend to release a high-end Android smartphone, suitable for mobile gambling, as a challenger to the iPhone 5 and the Samsung Galaxy S III.
The Japanese company promised to have the new device on display at CES in Las Vegas and Mobile World Congress in Barcelona next year.
Dennis van Schie of Sony Mobile Communications informed the mobile gambling news: “In the near future we will finish a flagship model, which will be able to compete with Apple’s iPhone and Samsung’s Galaxy S III.”
According to Van Schie, Sony does not currently plan to release any Windows Phone smartphone devices, but wishes to focus all of its mobile development on the Android platform.
Among the several rumored Sony phones in the pipeline, one that might fit the role of an iPhone and Galaxy S III killer is the Sony C660X, also known as ‘Yuga’.
Yuga is said to utilize a quad-core Krait CPU, have a built-in 13MP camera, and boast a 5-inch 1080p display, optimal for Android casinos. According to other rumors, the Xperia C650x aka ‘Odin’ will be positioned as the company’s flagship for the coming year.
Sony has no big plans with tablets
However, Van Schie was skeptical about the tablet market: “We will unveil new tablets besides our existing Xperia S tablet, but not many.” The industry expert named cut-throat price competition as the main reason for the step back that is segment.”
Van Schie opined: “It has become very difficult to make money with tablets.”
Well, we think it is, just look at the competition. Develop a great gadget, create a massive hype around it, make sure the product life cycle is short, upgrade products frequently, and you have a winner.”
