The Seminoles Hit the Jackpot in Florida
As is the case throughout all of the United States of America at this point, gambling has come to be a pretty hot issue in the state of Florida. However, the issue is not gambling itself, being that it’s already legal in many of its forms, but rather some of the specific games that gamblers love, like blackjack.
Those familiar with blackjack rules know that it is a game where both skill and luck are combined. It is also one of the best games to play in the event that gamblers are looking for a good shot at making a buck as the house edge gets as low as 2%. Those who have a basic knowledge of blackjack strategy can even lower that!
Due to the great qualities of this game, it is subject to very high demand. The Seminole tribe in Florida has been trying to bring it to players for a while now, but to no avail. According to recent legislation, things are about to change.
On Monday, Florida legislators put an end to years of relentless negotiations by approving a $1 billion gambling deal with the Seminole tribe. The House, which up until this point held a gambling-resistant stance and has long a roadblock to a tribal gambling deal, gave bipartisan approval on Monday in a vote of 74-39.
In order for this bill to be turned into law, there are still two steps remaining; Governor Crist, who has championed the Seminole gambling deal for years, has to sign it into law. Also, the federal Department of Interior must sign it as the department which oversees state-tribal gambling compacts.
If all goes well, Florida residents who wish to play blackjack will no longer need to resort to the many online casinos which are the only source for blackjack around at this point. These sites, however, are liable to maintain traffic due to their convenience.
