UPDATED: US Casinos Giving Their Customers the Cold Shoulder…
CORRECTION Jan 09, 2014: The Horseshoe Casino Cleveland reopened its doors for business on Jan 07, at 16:00 EST, while the Thistle Down Racino opened its doors for the whole day thanks to the efforts of staff. Both casinos are open for business.
The current cold spell in parts of America’s Midwest means that many gamblers are frozen out of the casinos.
This current big freeze is becoming big gambling news lately with America’s Midwest casinos freezing out their customers. Caesars’ Horseshoe Cleveland and Penn National’s Hollywood Toledo are closed until further notice. Caesars’ Thistledown racino stays open but with limited staff. Penn’s Hollywood Joliet in Illinois closed on Sunday.
Game freeze. Casinos feeling the squeeze.
Wind chills in northern Ohio have been falling to 30 degrees below zero (Fahrenheit) lately with one to three inches of snow becoming something of a norm, making it a smart strategy to stay indoors when possible!
In north-west Indiana, Caesars Horseshoe Casino Hammond closed, though Pinnacle’s Ameristar East Chicago and Boyd’s Blue Chip remained open. Drier weather is expected today and warmer weather should start returning on Wednesday.
Until the chill fully subsides, we’d recommend getting your gambling from your desktop or mobile. More and more web sites are mobile casino-ready, although most US gamblers don’t have access to these great casinos yet.
Instead, just give a jealous glance over to New Jersey and Delaware residents, as they enjoy the thrills of fully legal online casinos, whatever the weather!
