US Gamblers – the American Gaming Association is Your Friend!
The American Gaming Association (AGA) is a company that has been working for the interests of the commercial gambling sector in the US since 1995. Their main goal is to deal with legal issues like regulation and taxation when it comes to casino gambling in the country. Recently, they have been working very hard in the struggle to re-introduce online gambling in the US.
Every since the Unlawful Internet Gambling Enforcement Act (UIGEA) was passed in 2006, US players have found it difficult to gamble on the internet. The American Gambling Association has been one of the primary movers in the drive to overturn the UIGEA. The latest reports say that in the fourth quarter of 2008 alone, the AGA spent nearly a third of a million dollars lobbying for the legalization of online gambling in the United States.
Online gambling in the US has been all over the news lately. Democrats are working hard to draft legislation that could appeal the current ban on internet gambling in the country. Representative Barry Frank has been a big name recently, as he works hard to see that the legislation is passed.
In spite of the current ban, there are still ways for US players to enjoy online blackjack and other casino games. There are internet casinos that are headquartered in other countries, and many of these casinos accept players from the US. More importantly, even though the current laws on internet gambling in the US focus on preventing players from funding their online casino accounts, more and more legal payment methods are opening to US players every day.
Ultimately, while the UIGEA has slowed down internet gambling, it has definitely not stopped it. But as long as groups like the American Gambling Association and individuals like Barney Frank are working hard to see that internet gambling is made legal again, then things will be much simpler for blackjack players in years to come!
