Wakefield Lad Hits £866,000 Mobile Slots Jackpot
Will Hill jackpot
Win amount is a new record for William Hill.
Just as gambling operators have been discovering the importance of offering players a mobile casino gambling experience, players have also been discovering that sportsbooks are no longer just about sports betting.
Indeed, William Hill, being one of the main offline, online and mobile sportsbooks in the UK, has also been a favorite mobile destination for players wanting to spin the reels ever since the company added the option to their portfolio of games.
With so many people playing mobile slots through William Hill, it was only a matter of time before some hit a huge jackpot.
Well, someone did.
A 33-year-old Wakefield forklift operator (unnamed) has hit the jackpot in the Cop-the-Lot slot game from his smartphone (also unnamed). As a result he is now £866,000 richer. The amount is believed to be the largest mobile casino payout to date by a bookmaker.
The previous record at William Hill was less than half of this amount, exactly £341,259.
“This is our biggest ever mobile payout and is probably the biggest win in the history of mobile gaming,” said William Hill’s spokesperson Joe Crilly. “There is no doubt that we will see our very first mobile millionaire soon.”
It took some time for the lucky lad to recover from the initial shock. “I had to turn my phone off and then turn it back on again because I thought there had been a malfunction,” said the winner. “I just could not believe it. I cannot explain how I felt as I just went numb.”
He also said that he had no plans to leave his job, but he would take some time off to travel and buy some gadgets. “I have never been to another country and there are so many places I would love to go to. I want to take my family around the world although first, I want to go to Tokyo and New Zealand,” said the fortunate fellow.
